Quick Shots From Mexico City 🇲🇽

💡
I went on a solo remote work trip to Mexico City in February of 2025. This was my second time in the city and it's one of my favorites, a true top tier North American city IMO.

As I create this post and work on my backlog we are gearing up to head to Guadalajara, Mexico in a few days. While my favorite Mexican city I've been to is still Oaxaca, it's hard to beat Mexico City for just "hanging out", and that's exactly what I did for about a week here while I was deep into some work at the time.

The beautiful Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts). You can get this great viewpoint at the coffee shop across the street.
Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral

CDMX's city center square, Zócalo, is a must-visit. There's a Metro stop near by and lots of fantastic architecture and musems within walking distance.

You just won't find better architecture in North American than in Mexico.
The first floor of the postal museum

One of the highlights of this trip for me was the postal museum. Shows the history of Mexico's postal system as well as having an amazing interior.

Highly recommend the Mercado de Artesanías La Ciudadela if you're looking for local goods to bring back. Of course, like any global crafts market, you're going to have to sift through a lot of Chinese made stuff, but definitely some gems here still.

I stayed in the Polanco neighborhood this trip, which is just adjacent to the amazing Chapultepec Park.

Chapultepec Park is a fantastic reprieve from the city's sounds and smells. Definitely recommend renting a bike to take the trip around, if possible.

It even has a totem pole gifted from Canada!
Chapultepec Castle, located inside the park. It was interesting to see the history around Austria and Mexico City here having just been to Austria a few months before this trip.
A peek inside the castle, which is really a museum.
I spent a couple evenings just roaming around the park after work.

While the Polanco neighborhood is typically more upscale, there are still some good gastronomical gems to be had. I love the pork tacos/tortas above at El Turix. I've come here both times I've been to the city now. Cheap, authentic, and very tasty.

Somewhere in Condesa...

I'll be back soon...
